This from the Herald today would prompt only the most unkind and chippy amongst us to think that this might be a good way to solve the problems of traffic congestion in North Britain:

Five out of six Scots want a zero limit for drink-driving, police said today.

A poll found the vast majority believe that drinking any alcohol before driving should be banned.

And almost two-thirds of Scots believe that all drivers stopped by the police for any offence should automatically be breathalysed.

Police said the results of the survey, which ran across several media outlets, show that the social stigma of drink driving is stronger than ever.

The poll was commissioned on behalf of the Scottish Executive-funded Road Safety Scotland campaign group and the Association of Chief Police Officers Scotland.
