One is singularly unsurprised that MPs expenses have risen at twice the rate of inflation (see here for the Daily Telegraph’s report) given their propensity to buy them selves iPods, quad bikes, fish tanks and the like as well as buying themselves nice little pads in Central London.

The only way some element of proper control is going to be had over this particular little pig trough is by emulating the Scottish Parliament and putting all MPs and Peers expenses Online where they can be viewed in complete detail.

To purloin a phrase much loved by those who want ID cards, floor to sky CCTV cameras and millions of number plate recognition cameras etc. “If you have nothing to worry about then why should you object to this proposal”.

I am not holding my breath.
